Course details

This course gives guidance on how the Reporting of Injuries, Diseases and Dangerous Occurrences Regulations 2013 (RIDDOR) applies to dental practices.

RIDDOR requires employers and others to report deaths, certain types of injury, some occupational diseases and dangerous occurrences that ‘arise out of or in connection with work’. Generally, this covers incidents where the work activities, equipment or the environment (including how work is carried out, organised or supervised) contributed in some way to the circumstances of the accident.

RIDDOR reports alert the HSE to whether an incident needs investigating, if there is a health and safety risk or if there are trends developing.

Aims and objectives

On completion of this course, you will understand your obligations under the Reporting of Injuries, Diseases and Dangerous Occurrences Regulations 2013 (RIDDOR).

You will understand how to comply with Health & Safety Executive (HSE) legislation and how to apply this obligated duty in your day-to-day work.
