Dental nurse and oral health educator Stephanie Gillies discusses an initiative designed to encourage all nursing, medical and health care professionals to identify common oral health and dental conditions in hospitalised paediatric patients.

To share a broader knowledge base in relation to oral health in the context of the social determinants of health with a focus on the work of Mini Mouthcare Matters and oral care for children in England. It must be acknowledged that there are some excellent programmes in the other nations too, such as Design to Smile, Happy Smiles Programme and ChildSmile, but these focus more on oral care for non-hospitalised children.
